Insurance and reimbursement

Reimbursement of physiotherapy differs per treatment and type of complaint. In most cases you need a supplementary (aanvullende) insurance: physiotherapy is one of the most chosen covers in Dutch supplementary packages. How many sessions are reimbursed depends on the package you chose, and physiotherapy never counts towards your deductible (eigen risico). Check your policy or ask us, we are happy to look it up with you.

Under certain conditions physiotherapy is covered by the basic insurance (basisverzekering), for example for chronic conditions on the official chronic list or after certain operations. The basic insurance then covers from the 21st session onwards; sessions 1 to 20 are paid via your supplementary insurance or yourself. In doubt? Ask one of our therapists whether your situation qualifies.

For children up to 18, the first 9 sessions of physiotherapy are covered by the basic insurance, with 9 more sessions after that if needed, 18 sessions in total.

For internationals: many expat and international insurance plans (for example through your employer) also cover physiotherapy. Bring your insurance details to the first appointment and we check your coverage together, in plain English, before any costs surprise you.

We have contracts with all Dutch health insurers, which means we bill your insurer directly, no forms or claiming afterwards for you. See our rates page for the full overview.
