What is physiotherapy at home?
Some situations make it hard to visit the practice: recovery after surgery, reduced mobility, or a condition that keeps you housebound. In those cases our therapists come to you. Home treatment includes the same quality of care as in the practice: assessment, hands-on treatment and a personal exercise programme with the materials available in your home.

- Travelling to the practice is not realistic right now.
- Conditions that keep you housebound.
- Transport depends on others.

- Fall prevention on your own floors and stairs.
- Keeping strength for independent living.
- Balance training where it matters most.
Temporary situations
- A broken leg and no transport.
- Recovery until practice visits are possible.
- Continuity of your existing treatment plan.

When to book physiotherapy at home?
Wondering whether it is 'bad enough' for the physio? In these situations an appointment is worthwhile, no referral needed:
- You cannot reach the practice: through illness, surgery or reduced mobility, we come to you instead.
- Discharge from hospital: rehabilitation should start in days, not weeks, home visits bridge the gap.
- Falls or fear of falling: training in your own home addresses the exact stairs and thresholds involved.
- A doctor advised home physiotherapy: with that indication, insurance covers home treatment like practice visits.
How a home visit works
We start with a short intake about your complaints and goals, in plain English. We look at your load and recovery (work, sport, sleep, stress), test which movements provoke your complaint, and decide together whether this treatment adds value for you. You get a clear explanation and a concrete plan for the first weeks, and treatment starts the same appointment.
Home visits across Eindhoven
We visit patients across Eindhoven, including Strijp, Woensel, Stratum, Tongelre, Gestel and the city centre, from both our Strijp-S and Achtse Barrier locations.
With a doctor's indication that you cannot travel to the practice, home treatment is covered by your supplementary insurance in the same way as a practice visit. We help you arrange this.
Why training at home works
Rehabilitation in your own environment has a quiet advantage: every exercise happens exactly where you need the result. The stairs you practise on are your stairs; the chair you learn to rise from is the one you use every day. That transfer is why home rehabilitation works so well for daily-life goals.
For most patients, home treatment is a phase, not an endpoint. As soon as travelling becomes realistic, we move your programme to the practice gym, where equipment lets us build further.

Costs and insurance
With a doctor's indication that you cannot travel to the practice, home treatment is covered by your supplementary insurance in the same way as practice visits, including the home-visit surcharge. We help you arrange the indication and check your coverage.
Adults (18+)
- Sessions are reimbursed from your supplementary (aanvullende) insurance, the number depends on your policy.
- For chronic conditions on the official list, the basic insurance covers from session 21 onwards (sessions 1–20 via supplementary insurance or self-paid); a doctor's referral is required for chronic status.
- Physiotherapy never counts towards your deductible (eigen risico), except basic-insurance COPD care.
Children up to 17
- With a chronic indication, physiotherapy is covered from the very first session by the basic insurance.
Preparation and aftercare
What to bring
- ID (first appointment) and your insurance details
- Clothes you can move in, think shorts or sports gear for hip and knee complaints
- A short history of your complaint: when it started, what worsens it, what eases it
- Any medical information: referral letter, scans or earlier reports, if you have them
- No special preparation needed, a water bottle is always a good idea
After the treatment
- Keep the daily home exercises, they are dosed for your situation
- Use the agreed safe routes and supports when practising alone
- Involve family or caregivers where agreed, they are part of the plan
- Report changes early, at home small signals matter double
